About SerialMint

One tool, one job: minting random serial-number-style strings for people who build and test software.

What this site is

SerialMint is a free, single-purpose website. Its generator produces random strings shaped like serial numbers — with customizable segments, character sets, separators and prefixes — for testing, mockups, software demos and database seeding. The guides alongside it explain what serial numbers are, how their formats work, and where random serials are genuinely useful.

How it is built

The site is a plain static website: HTML, CSS and one JavaScript file. Generation happens entirely in the visitor's browser using the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues). There is no backend, no database, no account system and no analytics — which is why the tool is free to use and why nothing you generate ever leaves your device. Read the full details in the privacy policy.

What it is not

To be completely clear about the boundaries:

  • It is not a source of valid software licenses. Generated strings are random and will not activate any program.
  • It is not affiliated with any software vendor, manufacturer or licensing authority.
  • It does not generate keys for any specific product, and it must not be used to impersonate genuine product keys.

Who it is for

Developers writing tests, QA engineers validating forms, database administrators seeding staging environments, designers mocking up documents that carry serial numbers, and anyone preparing a demo that needs realistic-looking identifiers without touching real customer data.
